Hillary Brooks York is an American actress, activist, model, and singer. She has been nominated for an Oscar, two Critic’s Choice Awards, three Emmys, and two People’s Choice Awards. Best known for her role in the television series Family Fortune, she was nominated for an Oscar for her work on Subway in which she played a troubled teen sex worker. She dated shock rocker Raven for most of her adolescence. Following their breakup, she alleged that he was abusive and disappeared shortly thereafter. Where is Hillary York and did Raven, aka Shawn Johnson, or his fans have anything to do with her disappearance?

Blade and I are back in our office reading about and watching clips related to Hillary York and Raven LuRue.

“He started grooming me when I was fourteen and he was thirty-four,” Hillary is saying. “I was a child. He was a grown man approaching middle age. He brainwashed me. He coerced me. He gaslit me. At the time I thought it was . . . this . . . I don’t know . . . once-in-a-lifetime love affair. I thought he was so cool. I thought most of his horrible behavior was an act, a persona. I was wrong. He systematically and horrifically abused me for years. He had me tattoo his name on me, but then that wasn’t enough so then he had me carve his name into my flesh and made me drink his blood. I was a teenager searching for an identity. I had recently lost my mom, and my dad wasn’t around much. My career was taking off and no one was looking out for me. I was doing these sexual scenes with co-stars twice my age. I was working all the time. I had been taken out of school. I no longer had time to hang out with my friends. I was isolated and . . . vulnerable. He became my everything. He separated me from everyone. He insisted on complete control and domination. He convinced me we weren’t like everyone else. They were blind and boring and sleeping through life, but we were awake, alive, tuned into the true power of alternative living, of true love. He drugged me. He raped me. He tortured me. He controlled me. He belittled me. He has threatened me. His fans are sending me death threats. And I have little doubt he or they will do it given the chance, but I can’t be silent anymore. I have to speak my truth and live my freedom even if it gets me killed.”

“No wonder she wanted a prenup,” I say. “She was rich. And had the resources to run.”

Blade says, “No wonder she freaked out when she saw the goth guy at the club.”

I nod.

“His freaky little followers are like an army,” she adds. “I’ve been lookin’ at their little fanboy sites. It feels like a cult. They’ll do anything for him. It’s like the little bitches who stormed the Capitol or flew the planes into the towers or walked into a mall with an AK.
